Today’s feature store: Canning Vale

Come and join our wonderful team of volunteers at the Canning Vale store situated on the corner of Bannister Road and South Street Canning Vale. Volunteers are required Tuesday afternoons, Thursday mornings, Fridays and Saturdays.

If you can spare a few hours a week, want to make a difference to someone’s life, or if you want to come along for the enjoyment, we would love to have you join our team.

When I asked my Staff and Volunteers why they give up their time to help Salvos Stores, these are the responses I got:

Jean, full time Sales Assistant (10+ years service): ‘I like to feel like I’m making a difference.’

Kellie, casual Sales Assistant (new staff member): ‘I like working with people and interacting with the customers I meet.’

Margaret, volunteers 15 hours per week (8 months service): ‘I like socialising with people in a nice environment and giving something back to the community’

Kerry, volunteers four hours per week (five years service): ‘I like to volunteer because of the social aspect, and I like to feel I am making a difference.’

Bulu, volunteers 12 hours per week (three years service): ‘I like to learn and help out.’

Sue, volunteers eight hours per week, (three years plus service): ‘I like the social aspect in a friendly place and know I am making a difference.’

Kathy, volunteers three hours per week (10 plus years of service): I have met a lot of nice staff and volunteers during my ten years. The time at Salvos stores makes a light relief from my usually busy life.

Maurie, volunteers five hours per week (five plus years of service): ‘I like to volunteer to help the girls and also help the community. I really enjoy it.’

Tammy, Store Manager, (five plus years service): ‘I enjoy meeting all the lovely people on a daily basis. It’s a great, friendly environment. I genuinely love what I’m doing and get a lot of job satisfaction. Most importantly, I know that our team is making a difference in somebody else’s life every day. Whether it be our customers, or the people that our funds help in the community.’
